Hello supporters of Digital Glarus! We're back in our blog. Our company, ungleich, had some massive new flows of web experts – django developers and FOSS affcionados - joining our team. We are becoming bigger!
So this is a very long overdue post about our Digital Glarus. We are very sorry about keeping you waiting without much news. We were updating our django cms (a system that enables our website running smoothly- including our blog of course) and it was quite a huge jumble.
Enough excuses, we'd like to let our supporters know what we've been up to, and how we've been doing with the money raised from the crowdfunding campaign (wooohoooo) last year.
The first thing we got down to was taking care of dangerous part of this house. To make this house somewhat more safe and "usable" we decided to replace some very old parts of the chimney. We had these very old "covers" of the chimney where we could see the smoke leaking out, which makes the whole room not really safe.
The wall around the covers was stained with smoke, and we could see the wall itself was having some major cracks happening with its age. So first we had to make sure the covers were actually covering the smoke from getting leaked into the house. We had some experts have a look. More than one room had these covers in the house.
This is how it looked after the replacement.
There is probably some 50 or more years of time in between the old covers and the new ones we put. After changing the covers, it was time to give the whole wall a better look.
See how the crack went up all the way to the ceiling..
We had to fill in the crack, and primed the wall, and gave it a fresh new coat of painting.
So this is how it transformed!
No more old stains, and no more cracks in the wall. Thanks to the renovation (and thanks to our supporters!) we are in a safer and cleaner environment for working and living!
Our renovation story continues, check out our next postings and see how the house nicely transforms!
